Chicago trying to be a cooler city

Chicago is implementing various technologies and management practices to deal with issues such as Urban Heat Island effect and run-off while enhancing the quality of life of its citizens. This case illustrates the management of energy and water flows with a positive effect on costs. Next step should be dealing with other material flows, e.g., solid waste and nutrients, which in many instances are very much associated with the energy and water flows mentioned in the PBS report.
